Whether you are woman looking for the perfect gift for your husband, or you are the business man who wants to look his best, luxury watches are a great option. However, there are a lot of luxury watches on the market and a lot of companies claiming to have the best watch. With so many technical terms and claims, it is hard to know which watch is the best one for you. There are lot of parts and components that define a watch. We’ll go over some of those in this article and try and give you a better understanding so that you can make an informed decision.

The Movement: The movement is the most important part of the watch. A movement is the internal mechanism that operates the clock, and the face which displays the actual time. The most luxury of watches have very customized movements. Swiss movements have gained acclamation and are known for their quality and longevity. It is in the best interest to find luxury watches with quality movements. After all, who wants to buy a luxury watch that doesn’t last very long? Traditional movements are mechanical, while modern movements are electronic. Both have their benefits. Electronic movements are easier to program, but need a battery to stay operational. Either way, luxury watches will have quality movements.

The Casing: In the high-end luxury watch market, stainless steel or gold are the typical metals of choice. Only the highest quality materials are used for luxury watches. The casing refers to the case that encloses the movement and crystal.

The Watch Crystal: The watch crystal refers to the glass which covers the face and hands of a watch. Depending on the quality of the watch, many different kinds of materials are used. The most common material used for luxury watches are synthetic sapphires, which are some of the hardest materials on earth. Sapphires rate at a 9 on the Mohs scale which means that they won’t scratch unless they come in contact with a very hard material, like diamond which has a 10 rating on the Mohs harness scale. Luxury watches often come with the added benefit of anti-reflection or glare-resistant substances applied by the watch maker. This benefit makes the watch easier to read and almost eliminates the glare from light.

The Aesthetic Nature: All components added together create the artistry and form of the watch. Anyone can buy a digital watch for $5 that will last a couple of months. But it takes the skill and precision of a skilled watch maker to make luxury watches. It isn’t the fact that you can tell time with your watch. Most of us have cell phones, iPods, and PDA’s. It is the mastery of luxury that sets you apart from the rest of the world and the aesthetic nature of the watch that declares your status. There is a uniqueness available in luxury watches. Some manufacturers will produce “limited edition” watches which are carefully crafted by the manufacturer themselves.

I won’t necessarily suggest these watches. Yes, they are very luxurious. It is your decision whether or not to pay the extra money for a “limited edition” watch. So much of your personality and your status in society is determined by the clothes that you wear. By purchasing and wearing luxury watches, you will make a statement to society that implies your standing and desire for success and luxury. When people look at a man who is wearing a handcrafted, limited edition, or luxury watch they don’t just see a man. They see a persona of consummation and opulence. So much can be said about style, especially a man’s luxury watch.
