Easy To Install DIY Wireless Home Security Alarms

September 29, 2011 GuestPoster Home & Garden

Why would you want to pay a professional security company to install your alarm system when you can do it yourself for next to nothing?

Okay, for the non-DIY-friendly among us there used to be an excuse to pass this work on to someone else. Installing home security system kits used to involve a lot of drilling and running wires all over the house, and then connecting the whole thing up to the electrics. Not my idea of fun anyway…

Well those days are in the past and even the most DIY challenged among us have no excuse for passing up on this little job. You can now buy a simple alarm system for less than $25 online, have it delivered to your door, and up and running in the same amount of time it takes you to unpack it.

Wireless alarm kits like the GE 51107 and similar can be attached to the windows and doors with strong sticky-back tape, even the keypad that you use to arm an disarm the system can be stuck to a wall with strong adhesive (not included with the kits). The contact window and door alarms are operated with batteries so all you have to do it check them maybe once a week to make sure they are working and the alarms are armed.

Just think, no expensive professional installers drilling holes all around your house, making everything dusty. No monthly security bills to add pressure to an already stretched budget. You also get the admiration from your family for being good a DIY. There sure is a lot of up-sides to installing your own home security alarm, not forgetting the peace of mind you get knowing your home is alarmed against burglars.

And don’t think for a moment that because the alarm is inexpensive and easy to install and set-up that its inferior in any way. When you hear that 120 decibel siren go off you’ll understand why the GE 51107 and similar alarms are the darlings of the home security system kits.
